Licensure Survey for Gate 3
 
 
You must be able to answer yes to one of the first three questions in order to seek licensure.
 
1.      I am currently employed in an accredited school in the area in which I am seeking licensure.
 
YES or NO
 
§         If the answer is YES, you may register for EDUC 591 (local student teaching in your own classroom), EDUC 593 (external student teaching in your own classroom), or EDUC 699 (advanced licensure).
§         If the answer is NO, you must register for 698 (non-licensure) unless you are able to answer yes to question number two.
 
2.      I am NOT currently employed in an accredited school in the area in which I am seeking licensure, but I have had at least one year of full-time experience working in an accredited school in the area in which I am seeking licensure.
 
YES or NO
 
§         If you answered YES, you may register for EDUC 591 (local student teaching in your own classroom) or EDUC 593 (external student teaching in your own classroom) and submit a work experience form for licensure.
§         If you answered NO, please continue through the following questions.
 
 
3.      I currently have no full-time experience in the area in which I am seeking licensure, but will seek an accredited school in which I can complete my student teaching/internship.
 
YES or NO
 
§         If the answer is *YES, you must register for EDUC 590 (local student teaching) or EDUC 592 (external student teaching) and submit the required Gate 3 paperwork by the deadlines [see *Locating a student teaching placement].
§         If the answer is NO to all of these items, you must register for EDUC 698 (non-licensure).
 
*Locating a student teaching placement:
*   I answered YES to item 3 and I also live OUTSIDE the Lynchburg area.
­       You are responsible for choosing a school in your area and seeking school contact information for your Gate 3 application.
*   I answered YES to item 3 and I also live WITHIN the Lynchburg area
­       You will notify LU’s field experience office to assist you in finding a placement.
