An Electrical Engineer applies the principles of electricity, magnetism and light to design and build products that benefit people.

The field of Electrical Engineering is extremely broad. Electrical engineers are instrumental in the design of communication networks, digital systems, biometrics, integrated circuits, electronics, space vehicles, robots, power supply systems and much more. Innovation such as satellite communications, cell phones, XM radio, fiber optic networks, radar systems, high-speed microprocessors and neural networks all fall within the domain of the electrical engineer.

Specific outcomes of each program include the ability to: Apply probability and statistics to electrical engineering; describe the design and operation of circuits and industrial-electrical networks; utilize necessary mathematics to analyze an design complex electrical devices; identify, formulate and solve engineering problems; describe and apply professional and ethical responsibility; design and conduct experiments; analyze and interpret data.

Additionally, the school also offers an Intelligence cognate which combines the key elements of Electrical Engineering with the skills needed for work in the intelligence community, Homeland Security, NSA, DISA, U.S. military and like agencies. The program prepares students to serve their country by positively influencing the Intelligence Community and national security.

At Liberty University School of Engineering and Computational Sciences, the Electrical Engineering program provides an overview of the foundational principles of Electrical Engineering with specific focus on the discipline areas of Electromagnetic and Electronic Circuits, and the opportunity to specialize in Intelligence. Our primary goal is to develop Christ-centered men and women with the values, knowledge and skills essential to positively influence electrical engineering related industries.

What is ABET Accreditation?

The Electrical Engineering Program is accredited by ABET.

ABET accreditation is assurance that a college or university program meets the quality standards established by the profession for which it prepares its students.

For example, an accredited engineering program must meet the quality standards set by the engineering profession.

ABET accredits postsecondary degree-granting programs housed within regionally accredited institutions. They accredit programs only, not degrees, departments, colleges, or institutions.??For more information on ABET accreditation, visit:
