Dr. Stuart H. Schwartz is a professor of Communication Studies. His major teaching areas include Journalism, Direct Marketing, Promotions and Advertising.
Dr. Schwartz came to the school after a 20-year career as a senior executive with media and retail organizations. Companies where he headed marketing and operations include Lee Enterprises, which owned daily newspaper, broadcast and specialty publications, and apparel merchandiser Steve Madden. He was also head of business development for a 150-store retail music chain, in addition to his entrepreneurial work in the venture capital area.
Prior to his business career, Dr. Schwartz was on the faculty at Georgia State University, where he published numerous articles and papers on market segmentation and was an established national authority on media market research.
Dr. Schwartz received his B.A. from University of Connecticut, his M.A. from Fairfield University, and his Ph.D. in Communications from Temple University in Philadelphia, where he was a University Fellow.
He and his wife, Sharon, have two children: Chelsea, a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, and Brittany, a graduate of Elon University in North Carolina.
