How do I . . . ?

 …find the Library page?

  • Type http://library.liberty.edu in your browser address bar

    OR

  • Choose the Library from the list of Quicklinks found at the top of every Liberty University web page

…find out when the library or ILRC is open?

…check out books and other materials?

…find articles?

  • Go to the Library page
  • Click on Library Research Portal
  • That will bring you to the Research Portal Journals page 
  • Select a general database on the right or browse through databases under subjects on the left
  • Direct link to the Research Portal Journals
  • If you know the exact journal title, use Journal Finder on the bottom left side of the page to see if it is available electronically 
  • Journal issues in the library's print collection are listed in LUCAS, the library catalog

…find books?

  • Go to the Library page
  • Click on Library Research Portal
  • Choose the Books tab
  • Then you can search LUCAS,  the library catalog. LUCAS lists all of our books, including e-books 
  • The direct link to the Research Portal Books
  • Print books are located on the first floor of the ILRC

…find e-books only?

  • Go to the Library page
  • Click on Library Research Portal and choose the Books tab
  • Go to the Liberty Ebook Resources section
  • The direct link to the Research Portal eBooks

…renew books or see what I have checked out?

  • Go to the Library page
  • Click on Library Research Portal and choose the Books tab
  • Choose My Library Account and Sign in
  • The direct link to the Research Portal Books

 …get a book or an article not owned by the ILRC?

  • If you search for a journal article on many of our databases and its not available in full text in the database you are using, you’ll see a link that says “Get it@Liberty.” Click that link and you will be taken to the article if available in another database. If no online copy is available, a link will be there enabling you to request the article via Interlibrary Loan/ILLiad 

 
…format my bibliography using MLA/APA/etc style?

 …find out if the library has a print or electronic version of a journal?

  • Use the Journal Finder to check for electronic versions
  • Use LUCAS to check for print versions

…find newspaper articles?

  • Use the Library's "News Sites" http://www.liberty.edu/index.cfm?PID=3566 page to search the the library databases that index newspaper articles.
  • This page also includes links to assist in directly accessing local and national newpaper resources.

…print from an ILRC computer?

  • All ILRC computers are set to print to the Pharos print stations located on the first, second and third floors of the ILRC.
  • Login using the computer next to the printer using your network username and password. You can select or delete the print jobs from there.
  • For more information on printing, including how to print from laptop, see this page or an ILRC employee.

…make copies?  

  • Publically accessible black and white copiers can be found in the Curriculum Library and outside the Periodicals room on the first floor of the ILRC. Photocopies can be paid for in cash or by check at the service desks in these areas. (Checks made payable to Liberty University)
  • ILRC Staff will make copies in the ILRC Computer Labs on the second floor. Photocopies must be paid for in cash at the ILRC Computer Lab's front desk
  • Photocopies cost 10¢ per page for black and white and 69¢ per page for color.

…submit my graduate thesis or dissertation for deposit with the ILRC?
