The Liberty University Army ROTC program began as the Eagle Battalion in 1979 in cooperation with Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia with five cadets and two cadre members. It was disbanded in 1984.
The Eagle Battalion was reestablished in 2001 as a partnership school with the Cavalier Battalion at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia with five cadets.
In 2013 Liberty University's Eagle Battalion and UVA's Cavalier Battalion both became known as Task Force Blue Ridge in order to share a common name and signify our partnership.

Physical fitness is an important aspect of ROTC and Task Force Blue Ridge. Cadets will be expected to regularly demonstrate push-ups, sit-ups, and a two-mile run.
