Mikey Carpenter began in his role as Student-Athlete Development Coordinator on Feb. 1, 2018.
In his current role, Carpenter is in charge of preparing student-athletes for life after sport holistically, through community service, career development, leadership initiatives and professional programming. Carpenter also serves as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Advisor.
Prior to his time at Liberty University, Carpenter worked as the Student-Athlete Engagement Coordinator at Texas A&M University (July 2017-Jan. 2018). Before that, he served as the Development Assistant-Donor Experience/Student-Athlete Development Liaison at Wake Forest University (Aug. 2016-June 2017).
Carpenter has other experience in athletics, including: Community Relations Intern for D.C. United in Major League Soccer, Graduate Manager for the University of Oklahoma Women's Basketball program, Student Manager for the University of Virginia Men's Basketball program and Head Student Manager for the University of Virginia Men's Soccer program. While serving as a men's basketball Student Manager at the University of Virginia, the team captured the regular-season and ACC Tournament title during the 2013-14 season, the first championship for the Cavaliers since 1976.
Carpenter has volunteered his time with Managers on a Mission. With the organization, Carpenter went on a mission trip to Malawi, partnered through the Rafiki Foundation. He helped lead sport, life skills and biblical programming initiatives for an orphan mission in the city of Mzuzu.
Originally from Washington, D.C., Carpenter currently resides in Lynchburg.
