Title: Defensive Quality Control

Darren Jackson joined Liberty's football staff in June 2017 as the program's Defensive Quality Control staff member.

Prior to coming to Liberty, Jackson served as the linebackers coach at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Ky. During the 2017 spring season, he helped the Tigers implement a 4-2-5 defensive scheme and assisted with the player's weight room workouts.

Jackson served as the head coach at Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, N.D., during the 2016 season. During his one year with the Lions, Jackson helped Trinity post a 4-7 overall record after the Lions had gone without a win during the previous two seasons.

He had three players earned NCCAA National Player of the Week honors and five players were named to the All-NCCAA team. Senior Clint Stout spotlighted the five-player listing, as the linebacker led the NCCAA with 147 tackles during his final year with the program.

Jackson worked at University Christian School in Jacksonville, Fla., during the 2015 season, serving as inside linebackers coach and co-special teams coordinator. The Christian Knights won the 2A Florida State championship during the 2015 season.

Jackson worked for three seasons at The Apprentice School in Newport News, Va. He served in a variety of roles including linebackers coach (2012-13) and defensive backs coach (2013-15), while working all three years with the special teams units (assistant special teams coach: 2012-14; special teams coordinator: 2014-15). Jackson coached All-USCAA kicker Austin Wall, All-USCAA punter Blake Penix and All-USCAA linebacker Brandon Hampton during his final season with the Builders.

Jackson graduated from Liberty in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. During his time at Liberty, Jackson was a part of Liberty's 2008 Big South Conference championship football team. He also served as the defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator at Virginia Episcopal School in 2011 while completing his undergraduate degree. He completed his Master of Arts degree in human services counseling – life coaching from Liberty in August 2016.
