John Krakora joined the Liberty swimming & diving coaching staff in August 2018, and currently serves as a volunteer assistant coach who will focus on helping coach the program's divers.
Krakora brings experience as a division I diving coach. He started his coaching career during the 1981-82 season, serving as head coach for the ACC champion, Virginia. From 1982-85, Krakora worked as an assistant coach at Princeton, helping the age-group team annually rank in the top 10 nationally each year from 1983 through 1985. He served as president of the New Jersey Association of U.S. Diving from 1986-92. Also during that time, he returned to Westfield YWCA and re-established the program for three years.
A New Jersey native, Krakora was the high school state champion and a High School All-American in 1977 before going on to a successful collegiate career at Cornell. While at Cornell, he made the All-Ivy League team in both 1980 and 1981, also winning the one-meter springboard at the 1981 Eastern Collegiate Championships.
Krakora has lived in Lynchburg since 1992, and recently retired from J.Crew after a 30-year career at the company.
