Nearly 22,000 fans packed Williams Stadium Saturday night to watch Flames football open the season against a Power 5 opponent. No. 22 Syracuse downed Liberty, 24-0. Flames senior Antonio Gandy-Golden had 119 yards receiving and becomes the fourth player in school history with 2,500 career receiving yards.

0-1 Liberty travels to 0-1 Louisiana Lafayette this Saturday.

On to women's field hockey – No. 20 Liberty opens the season with a win over James Madison – and  from women's soccer – Liberty earns a 1-1 tie with Old Dominion on Sunday. LU's Gabby Farrell netted her second goal of the year.
