Liberty Holds Off ECU 3-2

Liberty built a 3-0 lead with a three-run third inning before holding off a late ECU rally, defeating the Pirates 3-2 on Sunday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.

The Lady Flames (6-11) extended their overall winning streak to six games, moving to 3-0 at the Liberty Softball Classic. ECU fell to 11-7 on the season, posting a 3-2 record this weekend in Lynchburg.

Liberty has won each of its last 15 games at Liberty Softball Stadium, the second longest home winning streak in program history. The Lady Flames have outscored opponents 69-17 during that streak which began on April 2, 2019.

Notable Numbers
- Both teams recorded four hits for the game. Liberty left four runners on base, while ECU stranded four.

- Karlie Keeney (4-4) earned her third straight victory, allowing two runs on four hits, walking one and striking out five.   

- Logyn Estes (6-1) drew her first loss of the season, yielding three runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

- Autumn Bishop batted 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI and one run scored, while Emily Sweat, Madison Via and Savannah Channell had one hit each.

- Estes went 2-for-3 with two doubles, while Chandley Garner went 1-for-3 with a homer and two RBI.  

Turning Point
- With one out in the third, Canetto was hit by a pitch. After an Amber Bishop flyout, Caroline Hudson drew a walk. Autumn Bishop then hit a two-run double and Sweat followed with an RBI single to make it 3-0.  

- ECU pulled to within one with a one-out rally in the top of the fourth, getting a double from Rachel McCollum followed by a Garner homer.  The Pirates only managed one hit the rest of the game.

Beyond the Box Score
- ECU leads the all-time series 33-5 over Liberty, although the Lady Flames have won each of the last two meetings.

- Autumn Bishop is now in sole possession of second place in program history with 51 career doubles, passing former teammate Sarah Robertson (2016-19). She needs one more double to tie program record holder Ashley Williams (2005-08).
