Amber Bishop's Walk-Off Grand Slam Seals 10-8 Comeback Win Over Radford

Liberty trailed Radford 8-1 entering the bottom of the sixth and still faced an 8-6 deficit with two outs in the seventh when Amber Bishop hit a walk-off grand slam to cap a 10-8 win over Radford, Tuesday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium.

The win was No. 200 in the coaching career of Liberty sixth-year head coach Dot Richardson. She holds a 200-158 career record.

The Lady Flames improve to 34-16 with the victory, while Radford falls to 22-28. Liberty has won its last four games, all at home.

Liberty's seven-run deficit was its largest deficit it has overcome in a win since trailing ETSU 12-2 in the fourth inning of a 14-13 victory on March 6, 2012.

Notable Numbers
- Liberty outhit Radford 13-7, while the Lady Flames sustained two errors. Liberty left eight on base, while Radford stranded three.

- Chase Cassady (11-2) earned the win, allowing seven runs (four earned) on five hits with six strikeouts and one walk in 6 1/3 total innings. Julia DiMartino gave up one run on two hits, striking out two and walking one in 2/3 of an inning.   

- Radford starter Kayla Huffman (11-14) drew the loss, allowing six runs on 10 hits, walking two in 5 2/3 total innings. Relievers Hannah Morris and Jessie Marvin combined to give up four runs on three hits in one inning before Huffman came back in.

- Madison Via went 4-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored, her second four-hit game of the season. Amber Bishop batted 3-for-4 with a double, homer and a season-high five RBI. Deidra See went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI, while Denay Griffin batted 2-for-4.

- Radford's Sydney Fisher and Hannah Medlam both went 2-for-4, while Maggie Rowe batted 1-for-3 with a homer and four RBI.

Turning Point
- After Cassady had pitched to the minimum through three, Radford scored five in the fourth and three in the fifth to take an 8-1 lead.   

- Liberty chipped away with a five-run sixth inning, getting an RBI single to Harris to start the scoring. See later cleared the bases with a three-run double before an Amber Bishop double made it 8-6.

- Griffin led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. After one out, Via singled to right. A fielder's choice left Liberty down to its last out. Huffman hit Autumn Bishop with a pitch, and Amber Bishop bashed a 1-1 offering over the wall in right center for the walk-off 10-8 win.

Beyond the Box Score
- Amber Bishop has now hit two walk-off home runs this season, with the other one a two-run shot to end a 5-3 win over Stetson on April 6. She is the first Lady Flame with two walk-off hits in Liberty Softball Stadium history.

- Liberty is now 20-2 at home this season, outscoring opponents 128-26 at Liberty Softball Stadium.

- The Lady Flames won despite giving up a season-high eight runs. Liberty is 2-9 this season when its opponent scores four or more runs. 

- Prior to Rowe's homer tonight, Liberty had not given up a homer in its last 17 games.

- Jaclyn Amader reached base for the 21st straight game.

- Amber Bishop moved up in three different career categories all-time at Liberty (3rd in hits – 227; t-4th in home runs – 37; 4th in RBI – 143).

- Chase Cassady is now in sole possession of ninth in program history with 35 career victories and became the 10th pitcher at Liberty with 400 or more career strikeouts.

- Via is the first Lady Flame since Katie Zavodny in 2013 with two four-hit games in the same season.

The Lady Flames head to Florence, Ala., where they will take on fellow ASUN newcomer North Alabama in a three-game series, Saturday and Sunday. Liberty can clinch the ASUN regular-season title with three wins this weekend.
