Liberty wrapped up the 2019 Liberty Diving Invitational with a strong showing in platform diving, Saturday at the Liberty Natatorium.
Competing against Virginia's divers, two of whom have competed in multiple NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, Liberty's Olivia Robinson placed second on the platform.
Yesterday, Lauren Chennault claimed both one-meter and three-meter diving in program-record scores.
Top Liberty Performers • Fr. Olivia Robinson – 2nd place in platform diving (214.13)
• R-So. Kendal Irwin – 5th place in platform diving (135.23)
• Fr. Allison Van Milligan – 6th place in platform diving (134.03)
Notable • Virginia's Sydney Dusel won in a Zone Qualifying score of 258.30. Dusel has competed in platform diving at each of the last two NCAA Championship meets. Kylie Towbin of Virginia, who placed third today behind Dusel and Robinson, competed at the NCAA Championships as a freshman, sophomore and a junior.
• Liberty's Kendal Irwin and Allison Van Milligan both scored collegiate bests in platform diving today.
Historically Speaking • Irwin's 135.23 on platform is good for fourth place on Liberty's all-time top 10 list in the event, while Van Milligan is fifth with her 134.03 from this morning.
Up Next The Lady Flames will now prepare for the 2019 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships, to be held at the Liberty Natatorium for the first time, Feb. 20-23.
