Lacrosse Releases 2013 Schedule

2013 Liberty Lacrosse Schedule

Liberty lacrosse head coach Regan Denham has released the Lady Flames' 2013 spring slate. After playing their first three seasons in the NLC (National Lacrosse Conference), the Lady Flames will join the Big South Conference, which will sponsor women's lacrosse for the first time, in 2013. In addition to its Big South lineup of games, Liberty's schedule is highlighted by home contests against Navy and Virginia Tech, as well as road matchups with BIG EAST foe Cincinnati and George Mason.

Overall, the Lady Flames will play nine contests at the friendly confines of the Liberty Lacrosse Field and eight road games.

"We are really excited about this year's schedule," commented Denham. "We are looking forward to being a part of the Big South and being able to help grow the conference. Our schedule gives us an opportunity to play some tough non-conference opponents as well as some new teams we haven't seen in previous seasons."

Liberty opens the 2013 season on the road at Stetson on Feb. 9. The matchup marks the earliest season opener for the Lady Flames in their four years of existence as a program.

The Lady Flames return to Lynchburg for their home opener against three-time defending Patriot League champion Navy on Feb. 16. On Feb. 24, Liberty will play its second consecutive Patriot League opponent, when the Lafayette Leopards come to the Hill City.

Liberty opens the month of March on the road with a contest against Delaware State on March 1.

On March 7, the Lady Flames will clash with St. Francis (Pa.) at the Liberty Lacrosse Field, before hosting Wagner on March 10.

Liberty will travel to Ohio for a mid-week tilt against Cincinnati on March 14, prior to a March 16 home contest against Robert Morris.

The Lady Flames play their final non-conference road game on March 20 against George Mason.

Liberty opens its longest home stand of the season with its first Big South conference matchup against Davidson on March 30. The Lady Flames then host another Big South foe, Campbell, on April 1. ACC member Virginia Tech comes to Liberty Mountain for Liberty's final non-conference game of the year on April 3. The Lady Flames conclude the home portion of their schedule on April 5 with a Big South tilt against Presbyterian College.

Liberty ends the regular season with four road contests, all against Big South opponents. The Lady Flames longest stretch of away games begins on April 7 at High Point. Liberty will then travel to South Carolina for a pair of matchups, beginning on April 12 at Coastal Carolina and ending with a contest at Winthrop on April 14.

The Lady Flames wrap up the regular season by making the short trip to Longwood on April 20.

The inaugural Big South Lacrosse Championship, which will feature the top four teams from the regular season standings, begins on April 26 with the semifinals, followed by the title game on April 28.

"We are very excited about the direction our program is heading," commented Denham. The girls have really bought into our system and there is a great deal of excitement and energy surrounding our program right now as we head into the 2013 season."
