After playing the last two games on the road, the Liberty Lady Flames field hockey team returns to the friendly confines of the Liberty Field Hockey Field for a pair of non-conference matchups this weekend. On Friday, Liberty welcomes the Robert Morris Colonials for a 3 p.m. game, followed by a Sunday afternoon tilt against the La Salle Explorers. Game time against La Salle is slated for 3 p.m.

Series Against Robert Morris Liberty is 0-1 all-time against the Colonials, dropping a 1-0 decision last season at Robert Morris.
Series Against La Salle Sunday's matchup will be the first-ever matchup between Liberty and the Explorers.
A Look at the Lady Flames Liberty is coming off a 3-1 road defeat to the Longwood Lancers on Tuesday. The loss dropped the Lady Flames to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in NorPac conference play.
Sarah Gipe scored Liberty's lone goal against the Lancers. The goal was Gipe's team-leading fourth of the season. The Lady Flames tallied seven shots and were awarded six penalty corners in the contest. Natalie Barr notched Liberty's first defensive save of the season in the first half. Goalie Brooke Morley saved four shots for the Lady Flames.
In addition to Gipe's four goals, Barr and Abbey Basom each have a trio of goals for Liberty on the season. Barr leads the Lady Flames with 24 shots, while Basom, Gipe and Helen Doolittle have 16, 14 and 11 shots, respectively.
For the season, opponents have scored an average of 2.06 goals per contest against Morley. She has stopped 41 shots, while surrendering 15 goals.
A Look at Robert Morris Last time out, the Colonials fell to the Ohio Bobcats, 2-1. Robert Morris enters Friday's matchup with a record of 3-4 (0-0 NEC).
Robert Morris and the Bobcats each notched a first-half goal and the score remained tied at one until Luli Gomez Teruel scored in the 67th minute to give Ohio the lead and the win. Jess Martin-Brown scored the only goal of the game for the Colonials. Jamie Hartley was responsible for five of Robert Morris' nine shots in the game. Goalie Erin McKenzie saved eight would-be goals for the Colonials.
Hartley leads Robert Morris or is tied for the team lead in every major offensive category. She has tallied four goals and three assists for a total of 11 points, while also recording 31 shots. Martin-Brown is tied with Hartley for the team lead in goals with four of her own, while Taleah Scott also has three assists.
McKenzie and Paige Neat have split time in goal through the first seven games. McKenzie has given up eight goals, while saving 18 and Neat has surrendered six goals and saved 15 shots.
A Look at La Salle For the season, La Salle has a record of 2-6 (0-0 Atlantic 10). The Explorers split their first four games of the season, but since that time they have dropped four in a row.
La Salle's last matchup was a 4-3 loss to cross town opponent Penn on Wednesday. The game featured three ties and four lead changes. The final lead change occurred when the Quakers' Elizabeth Hitti scored the game winner with less than six minutes remaining in the contest.
The Explorers outshot Penn 18-12 and had twice as many penalty corners, 8-4. Three different players notched goals for La Salle. Explorers' goalie Lisa Shaffer recorded six saves, while allowing four goals.
Nine different players have recorded goals for La Salle this season. Mariel Papa and Becca Chylack each have three goals to pace the team. Olivia Shoemaker leads the team with 29 shots. In goal, Shaffer has surrendered 4.19 goals per game. The sophomore goalie has been scored on 33 times, while blocking 60 shots on goal. Looking Ahead Liberty travels to St. Louis, Mo. for a pair of non-conference matchups beginning with Saint Louis on Sept. 29, followed by a neutral site game against Missouri State on Sept. 30. Game times are set for 1 p.m. against Saint Louis and noon versus Missouri State.
