2012 USTFCCCA Women's Division I All-Academic Track & Field Team A Liberty senior and freshman each earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors on Wednesday. It was announced that senior Jennifer Klugh and freshman Mychelle Cumings are both part of the 2012 USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Track & Field Team. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds). Klugh, who graduated in May with a 3.38 GPA in mathematics, is a member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for the third consecutive season. The Centerburg, Ohio native has a 4.0 GPA through the early stages of her graduate work in secondary education. Klugh was named the Big South Women's Outstanding Track Performer for the second straight year at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships. She scored 28 points at the meet, helping the Lady Flames capture the team title. Klugh won four Big South individual track championships on the year, including the indoor mile and 3K and outdoor 1,500 and 5K. Klugh also found success at the ECAC level, placing sixth in both the indoor 5K and outdoor 3K. For the third year in a row, she wrapped up her year by running the 1,500 at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round. Klugh set the Liberty and Big South indoor 5K record at 16:48.32 and also established the indoor program record in the 3K with a 9:44.62 effort. An athletic training major, Cumings posted a 3.27 GPA as a freshman. She also excelled in her events and shared the Big South Women's Freshman of the Year award at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The native of Madison, Tenn., won three Big South event titles on the year, including the indoor and outdoor shot put crowns and the outdoor discus championship. Cumings scored in two events at the ECAC Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, placing fourth in the shot put and seventh in the discus. She competed in the same two events at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet. On the year, Cumings shattered three long-standing school records, including the indoor shot put (51-3), outdoor shot put (51-2.75) and outdoor discus (167-0).
