Liberty head lacrosse coach Regan Denham has announced the addition of Jacquelyn Duggins to her staff as an assistant coach. Duggins takes over the position after former assistant Jennifer Venter resigned following the 2012 season.

"I'm pleased to welcome Jacquelyn to our lacrosse program and the Liberty family," stated Denham. "Her passion for instruction on and off the field will make a sudden impact, as we continue to build our program. I look for Jacquelyn's strength as a former defender to help us, especially as we enter the first season of competition in the Big South."

Duggins brings a variety of experience to Liberty's program, including a strong familiarity with the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Charlottesville, Va., native was a four-year letterwinner at Albemarle High School. Additionally, Duggins played one year for the Monarchs at Old Dominion before completing her collegiate lacrosse career at Virginia Tech, graduating in 2010 with a degree in psychology.

"I am so excited to be a part of this great university," remarked Duggins. "It will be a privilege to assist Regan as she develops a winning program. I look forward to seeing these young ladies pursue excellence both on the field and off. Faith in Christ creates an even greater passion for this journey."

After serving as a graduate assistant coach with the women's lacrosse team at Durham University in Durham, England for the fall of 2011, Duggins has taught in the Charlottesville area recently.

Aside from her stint across the Atlantic, Duggins' coaching experience includes time as the women's varsity lacrosse assistant coach at Saint Anne's Belfield High School in 2011 and serving as a middle school coach at Blue Ridge Lacrosse Club.

Duggins started and played in 45 contests during her three years as a Hokie, taking on the role of team captain for the 2010 season. The defender compiled 56 groundballs for Virginia Tech while causing 17 turnovers. In addition to helping Virginia Tech to 17 wins, Duggins was successful in the classroom and in the community, being one of the school's Top Six for Service award recipients. The annual award given to six student-athletes at each ACC institution brings recognition to those who demonstrate outstanding community service.

Duggins concluded her career at Albemarle High School by taking second team All-Central Virginia honors as a junior and first team All-Central Virginia accolades as a senior. She was also a two-time All-Northeast Region first team selection and was named Albemarle's female MVP once. She was also a member of the field hockey team.

Duggins will begin her role with the program in August.
