B.J. Jenkins has been selected as the Big South Conference New Balance Freshman of the Week for games played Nov. 27-Dec. 3 as announced by the League office. 

Jenkins (Virginia Beach, Va.) averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in Liberty's two wins last week, including a 64-56 victory over East Carolina. He shot 64.3 percent from the field (9-of-14), 42.9 percent from long range (3-of-7) and 77.8 from the line (7-of-9). Jenkins scored a career-high 16 points vs. Southern Virginia and added 12 points vs. East Carolina. Against the Pirates, Jenkins also grabbed three rebounds, dished out three assists and notched three steals in 21 minutes off the bench. 

"B.J. had a fantastic week and played a big role in getting us two wins," said head coach Randy Dunton. "His preparation throughout the fall has been special and I look forward for him to continually impact our season." 

On the season, Jenkins is averaging 8.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 14.6 minutes of play. Jenkins comes to Liberty via Green Run High School in Virginia Beach where he was a McDonald's All-American nominee during his senior year. 

Jenkins and the 4-1 Flames are back in action tonight against St. Francis at the Vines Center. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
