Liberty freshman Erin Curry was named the CCSA Swimmer of the Week.
Liberty freshman Erin Curry has been named CCSA Swimmer of the Week, Wednesday, after setting two program records during Liberty's season-opening, 147-141 victory at Marshall. Curry, a Linwood, N.J., native, claimed victory in the 200 backstroke and in the 400 individual medley (IM), Saturday at Marshall. She also swam the breaststroke leg during Liberty's first-place 200 medley relay. She broke the program record with a 2:08.32 in the 200 backstroke, good for the second best time in the CCSA this season. Curry swam a Liberty-record 4:34.95 in the 400 IM, the third-fastest clocking in the conference. Her relay leg, a 31.56 breaststroke, helped the Lady Flames post a 1:47.88, the second best 200 medley relay time of any CCSA team this year. Curry is the second Liberty swimmer to be named CCSA Swimmer of the Week in the two-year history of the program. Brye Ravettine earned swimmer of the week honors as a freshman, Jan. 12, 2011. The Lady Flames compete in their lone home meet, Friday at 5 p.m. against Radford. Liberty will host the Highlanders in the LaHaye Aquatics Center.
