Head coach Danny Rocco held his weekly press conference for the local Lynchburg media earlier today in the Donor Room of the Williams Football Operations Center.
During the 30-minute meeting with the media, Rocco reflected on Liberty's second-straight setback to a Top 25 program after dropping a three-point decision at Lehigh on Saturday.
Last weekend, Liberty was one of nine Top 25 FCS programs in the country to fall. No. 23 Liberty dropped a heartbreaking 27-24 decision to No. 15/16 Lehigh, which has the Flames outside of the Top 25 rankings for the first time since October of 2009.
For the third time this season, Liberty will be squaring off against an opponent for the second time in the all-time series when hosting Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday night. Liberty was victorious over the Panthers during the series' first meeting, posting a 47-7 victory inside of Williams Stadium on Sept. 20, 2003.
Saturday's match-up with Kentucky Wesleyan marks Liberty's final contest before the Flames begin their quest for a fifth-straight Big South Conference title. Since Big South play started in the 2002, Liberty is 3-6 in its final tune-up before league play open. However, the Flames are 3-2 during the final game before opening league play under Coach Rocco, having posted wins during their last non-conference game in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
