The Flames Weekend Wrap-Up returns today and looks back at Liberty's Top 25 FCS match-up with Lehigh on Saturday, one that ended on another last-second field goal attempt.
Facing their second nationally ranked foe in two weeks, Liberty's game against No. 15/16 Lehigh came down to the last play. The week prior, No. 13/14 James Madison knocked down a 40-yard field goal as time expired to escape Williams Stadium with a 27-24 victory.
The Flames faced a similar situation in Bethlehem, Pa., this past weekend, as they trailed the Mountain Hawks by the same score, 27-24, with one second left after a Mike Brown slant pass to Pat Kelly got Liberty across midfield. Head coach Danny Rocco sent his field goal unit onto the field and the game ended when Alex Kacere's 54-yard attempt fell into the end zone.
The Flames managed to contain Lehigh's high-powered offense, holding the Mountain Hawks to a season-low 27 points and 424 total offensive yards. Lehigh came into the game averaging 41.7 points per game and had surpassed 489 total offensive yards in each of its previous three games.
During today's Flames Weekend Wrap-Up show, FSN reporters Alan York and Nick Pierce recap Liberty's match-up with Lehigh and take their first look ahead at the Flames' upcoming game with Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday evening at Williams Stadium.
