Last week, former Liberty Flames pitchers Keegan Linza and Steven Evans played in Danville with their respective minor league teams.'s Nick Pierce visited with both hurlers, checking in on each former Flames first year of professional baseball.

Pierce first spoke to Linza, whose Bristol White Sox were the first to stop in Danville to take on the Braves. Currently in the White Sox bullpen, Linza has made 18 appearances with a 3.12 ERA in 17 1/3 innings of work. In his final season in a Liberty uniform this past spring, the first team Big South all-conference member tied the school record for wins in a season by compiling an 11-3 record with a 2.08 ERA and five complete games.

Left-hander Evans and his Elizabethton Twins visited Danville later in the week. Also working out of the Twins bullpen, the Amherst, Va. native has made 17 appearances, posting a 1.42 ERA over 19 innings pitched.  In his final season as a Flame in this past spring, he was 7-3 with a 2.83 ERA and three complete games.  He completed his Liberty career ranked second on the program's career innings pitched and strikeout ledgers. The left-hander pitched 322 1/3 innings during his time in a Flames uniform and struck out 268 batters during his career.
