The Liberty men's track & field team is ranked No. 12 in the 2011 season's final Southeast Regional Index.
After an eighth-place finish at the IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championship, the Liberty men's track & field team is ranked No. 11 in the Southeast Region of the season's final U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I Regional Index. Virginia Tech remains at No. 1, while IC4A champion Duke checks in at No. 4 this week. Liberty is the only Big South Conference team represented in the regional rankings for either gender. The Flames tallied 28 points at the IC4A meet, notching a top 10 finish for the fifth consecutive season. Leading the way were Geren Woodbridge and Kolby Shepherd. Woodbridge came from behind to become Liberty's 12th IC4A decathlon champion in the last 20 years, finishing with a score of 7,016 points. Meanwhile, Kolby Shepherd pole vaulted 16-6.75 for second place in the event. A number of Flames will continue their season at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet, scheduled for May 26-28. The full field of qualifiers will be announced on Thursday.
