Dacia Bushman finished fourth in the Drake Relays women's 10K Thursday evening.
Liberty senior Dacia Bushman made a successful return to her home state of Iowa Thursday evening, finishing fourth in the women's 10K at the 102nd running of the prestigious Drake Relays. Showing no signs of fatigue after sweeping the Big South women's 5K and 10K championships last weekend, Bushman sped to a time of 35:17.48 on the blue Drake Stadium track. It was less than two seconds off of her personal-best 35:15.84 clocking from the Raleigh Relays earlier this season. Georgia's Bridget Lyons, the reigning SEC champion, paced the 27-member 10K field with a winning time of 33:31.14. Fellow Hawkeye State native Isaac Wendland ran the 800 Thursday afternoon. Competing on the track where he won seven Iowa high school state titles, he clocked a season-best time of 1:54.75 for sixth place. Liberty athletes will be in action in two different states on Friday. Elliot Galeone, Kolby Shepherd and Ryan Smith will compete at the Drake Relays. Meanwhile, some of their teammates will take part in the Radford Invitational.
