Liberty's men's tennis team will face No. 3 seed Coastal Carolina at 1 p.m., Thursday, in the opening round of the 2011 Big South Men's Tennis Championships in Rock Hill S.C..
Upon the conclusion of all Big South Conference men's tennis matches this afternoon, the conference announced the seeds for the 2011 Big South Men's Tennis Championships. Liberty's men earned the No. 6 seed for the upcoming tournament, while play will begin on Thursday in Rock Hill, S.C. Tournament host Winthrop finished its conference play with a 6-0 mark to take the No. 1 seed, which comes with a first-round bye. Radford (5-1) and Coastal Carolina (4-2) claimed the No. 2 and 3 seeds, respectively. Gardner-Webb (3-3) earned the No. 4 seed, while UNC Asheville (2-4) and Presbyterian College (0-6) round out the seeds at No. 5 and 7. With the No. 6 seed, the Flames (1-5) will match up with No. 3 Coastal Carolina in the first round. Match time is slated for 1 p.m. on Thursday. While Liberty fell to the Chanticleers in their regular-season contest, it was by a slim 4-3 margin and included four matches which went three sets. The tournament will conclude on Saturday with the championship match taking place at 1 p.m.
