Sanders Named to VaSID All-State Second Team

Liberty junior point guard Jesse Sanders has been named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Men's Basketball University Division All-State Second Team, as announced by the organization today.

The floor general is the sixth Flame in program history to earn a spot on the second team and the first since Alex McLean (2008).

Sanders' most recent postseason honor marks his sixth of the year. Last week, the Sugar Land, Texas native received All-America Honorable Mention accolades from the Associated Press and CollegeHoops.net. In addition, he was named first team all-conference, 2011 Big South Player of the Year and second team all-district by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Sanders led the Big South in assists this season, handing out a league-high 183 and averaging 5.7 per game. He also was 11th in rebounding at 6.0 per game and averaged 11.4 points in 32 games played.

The first player in Big South history with 500 career rebounds and 400 career assists, Sanders had eight games this season with at least eight rebounds and 14 games with at least seven assists. He recorded three double-doubles, including his Big South-record third career triple-double during the 2010-11 campaign.
