Liberty women's soccer head coach Jessica Hain has announced that Madeline Boone, Alanna Dunkle, Helena Pereira, Rebeccah Smith and Geena Swentik have signed national letters of intent to attend Liberty for the 2011-12 academic year. "The Liberty women's soccer program welcomes the 2011 freshmen class to the family," Hain stated. "We are excited about the plans God has for this group as we fix our eyes on the author our faith. Liberty will be blessed both on the field and in the classroom by these student-athletes. It will be a unique time of opportunity and growth for all of us." Madeline Boone (Midfielder, Nicholasville, Ky.) Boone, a four-year all-state selection at Lexington Christian Academy, was the 2008-09 National Christian School Athletic Association (NCSAA) National Player of the Year. A 2010 selection to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Region IV Team, the midfielder brings an extensive background in post season play. This past season, Boone led her team to the state championship, finishing her high school career as the program's assists leader (54) and second in scoring (72). In addition to being a member of the all-state tournament team four straight years, the Kentucky native is also a four-time state champion at the club level (Mockingbird Valley, S.C.). Alanna Dunkle (Forward, Hummelstown, Pa.) Dunkle comes to the Hill City after a four-year stint on the Lower Dauphin High School varsity team. After helping her team reach the state semi-finals in 2008, the forward earned a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) AAA state championship with the Falcons in 2009.This past season, she was named to the 2010 Big 11 second team. Apart from her high school accomplishments, Dunkle was also a member of the LDC United club team, garnering the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA) State Cup in 2006 and finishing as a runner-up in 2009. Along with her decade-long tenure with the club squad, the Pennsylvania native also played a year in the National Premiere League (2007-08). Helena Pereira (Midfield, Bristol, Conn.) Pereira, an attacking midfielder at St. Paul high school, is a three-time member of the all-state team (2009-11). During her time with the Falcons, she was named the squad's Most Valuable Player while also capturing NVL Conference MVP honors. Pereira finished her four-year tenure at St. Paul's with 68 career goals and is an ESPN Gatorade Player of the Year candidate. Off the field, the midfielder is also accomplished in the classroom, having received NSCAA All-Scholar honors. Rebeccah Smith (Center Midfield/Forward, Hummelstown, Pa.) A two-time NCSAA All-American (2008-09, 2009-10), Smith also earned NSCAA all-regional honors in 2010. During the 2009 and 2010 seasons, the center forward was tabbed to the association's Pennsylvania all-state team. Last year, Smith picked up her 100th career goal and currently sits at 120 during her tenure at Harrisburg Christian School. The Pennsylvania native's prolific scoring guided her to three straight first team all-conference selections (2007-10). Smith has also earned athlete of the year and MVP honors during her time at Harrisburg Christian. Geena Swentik (Defense, Delafield, Wis.) Swentik, a defender at Kettie Moraine High School, also suited up for her club team FC Milwaukee, helping lead the squad to four straight state championships. In addition to her high school and club team accomplishments, Swentik was also tabbed to the Olympic Development Program's Wisconsin state team. Upon arriving at Liberty, the signee intends to major in business.
