Game Day Central

Liberty (16-8, 10-1 Big South) will travel across the Commonwealth for a Saturday matinee at Radford (10-13, 7-3 Big South). The contest, set for a 3 p.m. tipoff at the Dedmon Center, will match up the top two teams in the Big South Conference standings.

The Lady Flames currently own a two and a half game lead in the Big South Conference. Radford sits in second place at 7-3 and dealt Liberty its only conference setback of the season, Jan. 17 at the Vines Center.

That day, Liberty led Radford, 42-27, with 16:36 left in the second half. Then, the Highlanders outscored the Lady Flames, 35-11, the rest of the way to wrap up a 62-53 win. Da'Naria Erwin Spencer's 15 points paced Radford, which posted its first win at the Vines Center since Feb. 3, 1996.

Three Lady Flames scored in double figures, led by Jelena Antic's 15 tallies. However, Liberty was undone by 21 second-half turnovers.

Liberty has played Radford more often than any other opponent in program history and leads the head-to-head series, 30-24. Liberty is 29-4 in the teams' last 33 meetings, after Radford won 20 of the first 21 contests in the Commonwealth rivalry.

The Lady Flames have been victorious in each of their last three visits to the Dedmon Center, by an average of 16.7 ppg, and are 9-1 in their last 10 games at Radford.

Last season, Liberty won at Radford by a 63-45 margin on Feb. 1, 2010. Devon Brown paced all players in both points (20) and rebounds (11). Erwin Spencer was Radford's lone player in double digits with 10 points.

The Lady Flames bring several winning streaks into Saturday's match-up with the Highlanders. Liberty has won a season-best seven straight games since the Jan. 17 loss to Radford. The Lady Flames have also won seven straight road games overall and 13 straight road contests against Big South opponents.

Meanwhile, Radford will be looking to snap a two-game losing skid. The Highlanders have dropped contests to UNC Asheville and Coastal Carolina in their last two outings.

Individually, Liberty redshirt junior center Avery Warley earned her third Big South Player of the Week honor of the season on Tuesday. She has recorded four straight double-doubles and 11 in her last 13 outings. Warley finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds during Liberty's first meeting with Radford this season.

Saturday will be Radford's Senior Day, but 5-5 sophomore guard Erwin Spencer has been the Highlanders' spark plug all season. She currently ranks third in the Big South in both points (14.0 ppg) and steals (2.6 spg), while sitting sixth in assists (3.3 apg).
