Game Day Central

For the second time in less than two weeks, Liberty (14-8, 8-1 Big South) will match up against Gardner-Webb (14-8, 6-3 Big South) on the women's basketball hardwood. Tipoff is slated for Saturday at 5 p.m. inside the Vines Center.

The Big South Championship title game rematch will open up a basketball doubleheader at the Vines Center, which also includes an 8 p.m. contest between the Liberty and High Point men's squads. Additionally, the ZOOperstars will perform during both contests.

Liberty enters Saturday's matchup on a five-game winning streak, which has enabled the Lady Flames to claim sole possession of first place in the Big South standings at 8-1. Meanwhile, Gardner-Webb currently sits in third place with a 6-3 conference record.

The Lady Flames are 5-2 all-time against the Runnin' Bulldogs, with all seven meetings coming during the past three seasons. The teams have split their two matchups at the Vines Center.

Liberty claimed a 68-56 victory at Gardner-Webb on Jan. 31, thanks in large part to Jelena Antic's career-high 22 points. Sixteen of the sophomore's points came after halftime, helping the Lady Flames stave off the Runnin' Bulldogs' comeback attempt.

Gardner-Webb was victorious in its last visit to the Vines Center, notching a 59-56 win on Feb. 8, 2010. Dominique Hudson tallied all 14 of her points after halftime, including the game-winning three-pointer with 19.0 seconds remaining.

Avery Warley continues to be an individual to watch for the Lady Flames, after posting nine double-doubles in her last 11 outings. She totaled 12 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots during Liberty's win over Gardner-Webb on Jan. 31. It was the redshirt junior's third career double-double against the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Gardner-Webb is led by the sister combination of Monique and Dominique Hudson, who combined for 44 points in the Runnin' Bulldogs 71-64 win at Charleston Southern last Saturday. The Hudsons ranks first and second in the Big South in both assists and steals and are the team's top two scorers.

Liberty did a good job of holding Monique and Dominique Hudson in check during the Jan. 31 matchup, limiting the duo to 11 points on 2-for-15 field goal shooting.
