Flames Baseball to Open Spring Preparations Friday

The Liberty baseball team will conduct its first official team practice Friday afternoon. The Flames will practice each day, except Mondays, through the start of the season on Feb. 18 at Worthington Stadium.

The team will hold intrasquad scrimmages on Friday, Saturday and Sundays during the preseason workouts. Friday and Saturday, the Flames will scrimmage at 3 p.m. Sunday, four-year head coach Jim Toman's squad will scrimmage at 4 p.m. Practices are open to the public.

Liberty, which won a school-record 42 games last season, will open its 2011 campaign in Macon, Ga., against Mercer for a four-game series, Feb. 18-20. The Flames will open its home schedule by hosting Binghamton on March 4 at 3 p.m. at Worthington Stadium. The contest is the first of the four-game series set for the weekend of March 4-6.
