The Game

In its second matchup of the SPI Invitational, Liberty will square off with BIG EAST member South Florida on Tuesday. Tipoff inside the Bulls' Sun Dome is set for 7 p.m.

Watch and Listen to the Flames
There will be a radio broadcast for each game of the South Padre Island Invitational which will air on the Flames Sports Network (flagship WRVL 88.3 FM) with Nick Pierce providing the play-by-play.
In addition to the radio broadcast, an Internet audio broadcast on LibertyFlames.com will be available. A television broadcast of Tuesday's game against the Bulls will also be available on ESPN Full Court.

Running with the Bulls
South Florida is currently 2-2 this season, with narrow losses to Southern Miss (60-53, Nov. 12) and UCF (65-59, Nov. 18). Along with a 74-71 win over St. Francis, the Bulls defeated Georgia Southern, 76-63, on Sunday in their opening matchup of the South Padre Island Invitational.

Last season, the Bulls finished with a 20-13 record and a 9-9 posting in BIG EAST action en route to an appearance in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). The Bulls were edged in the opening round of the tournament by ACC member N.C. State, 58-57.

South Florida returns two starters from last season's squad – Jarrid Famous (10.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg in 2009-10) and Toarly Fitzpatrick (4.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg in 2009-10).

Coaching Profile: Stan Heath
Stan Heath (154-133, 41-54 BIG EAST) is in his fourth season as head coach at South Florida. During his third season in Tampa, Heath led the Bulls to South Florida's third 20-win season ever with a 20-13 record, and returned to the postseason for the first time since 2002 as the Bulls hosted NC State in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.

Prior to coming to Tampa, Heath served as head coach at Arkansas (2002-2007) and Kent State (2001-02).

Liberty Versus the BIG EAST
The Flames are 0-7 against current members of the BIG EAST. Liberty is 0-1 against DePaul, 0-2 against Notre Dame 0-1 against Providence and 0-3 against Seton Hall.

Layer Versus South Florida
Head coach Dale Layer enters the Sun Dome with an unblemished 2-0 record against South Florida. Layer's pair of wins verus the Bulls occurred during his tenure at Colorado State. During the 2002-03 season, Layer's Rams defeated the Bulls, 80-72, inside Colorado State's Moby Arena. The following season, the Rams edged the Bulls, 66-65, in the Sun Dome.

Home Sweet Home (Part 2)
The Sanders brothers are not the only Flames who will be returning to their home state during the South Padre Invitational. Two Liberty players hail from Florida, the state where the Flames will play their second matchup of the tournament – guard David Minaya and center Joel Vander Pol. Minaya's hometown of Riverview, Fla., is approximately 15 miles from Tampa, Fla., while Vander Pol's hometown of Fort Myers, Fla., is about 130 miles from Tampa.

Alma Mater Exhibition
Prior to officially tipping off the 2010-11 season , the Bulls played an exhibition game against Division II member Eckerd College, the alma mater of Liberty head coach Dale Layer. South Florida won the exhibition, defeating the Tritons, 75-58.
