Liberty's Lillie Happel and Kelly Haseman picked up weekly conference honors for the final week of the regular season, as Happel was named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Volleyball Player of the Week, while Haseman was voted the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Nov. 8-14.

The Lady Flames (23-8, 14-2 Big South) concluded the regular season with wins over Radford and UNC Asheville, and will enter this week's Big South Championship as the No. 1 seed.

Happel, an outside hitter, becomes the first freshman in the conference to win Player of the Week honors this season. She was named the Freshman of the Week on Oct. 25. The last time a freshman was named the Player of the Week was Nov. 13, 2006, when Liberty freshman setter Kallie Corbin nabbed the honor after the final week of regular-season play.

Happel put away 32 kills, averaged 3.56 kills per set and posted six aces, 11 digs and one block to lead the Lady Flames to a 2-0 record in league play last week. Happel got her week started with a career-high 19 kills on .333 hitting and four digs as Liberty downed Radford 3-1 on Nov. 9. Four days later against Asheville, she connected on 13 kills to go along with a career-high six aces. She also chipped in seven digs and a block in the win over the Bulldogs.

Haseman earned her fourth Defensive Player of the Week honor, as the junior libero came up with 62 digs to average 6.89 digs per set in Liberty's two Big South wins last week. Against Radford, she posted her 11th 20-dig match of the season with 27 digs, and she followed up that performance with her fourth 30-dig match of the year with 35 digs against Asheville. The 35 digs was a new career high for the Three Rivers, Mich. native, and the number also ties the Liberty record for digs in a match under the rally-scoring system. In addition, Haseman has tallied 601 digs on the year, a new single-season rally scoring record.

Liberty will take on No. 8 Gardner-Webb in the first round of the Big South Championship, Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. in Rock Hill, S.C.
