Liberty Flames Podcast: Danny Rocco

In this week's Liberty Flames podcast, host Alan York sits down for a one-on-one interview with head coach Danny Rocco, who is currently in his fifth year as head football coach.

Rocco, a three-time Big South Coach of the Year, is looking to lead Liberty into uncharted territory in 2010. Liberty, winners of the Big South title in 2007, 2008 and 2009, is looking to become the first program in league history to win four-straight conference titles.

Additionally, the Big South Conference is one of two leagues receiving its first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs (other league is the Northeast Conference). The Flames are off to a great start in Big South play in 2010, as the Flames are 2-0 and are coming off a 41-7 victory over VMI, last weekend.

Since Rocco took over the program in 2006, Liberty has posted a 17-3 record against Big South foes, losing its trio of games by a combined eight points. The Flames have two road games (Presbyterian – Oct. 30 and Coastal Carolina – Nov. 13) and two home games (Gardner-Webb – Nov. 6 and Stony Brook – Nov. 20) remaining in 2010.

The four remaining games left on Liberty's regular-season slate will help determine the winner of this year's Big South title. Rocco is hoping to complete the team's theme for the season, "Finish What We've Started", by winning the league and guiding the Flames into their first-ever postseason bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs.

In an effort to continue to expand its coverage of Liberty Athletics, the Flames Sports Network (FSN) has launched the Liberty Flames podcast, a weekly podcast dedicated to an inside coverage of Liberty Athletics.

The weekly podcast will be hosted by Alan York, of FSN Radio and the new radio "Voice of the Flames," and will feature weekly segments with Athletics Department coaches, student-athletes and administrators.

The show will be made available for download in various forms each week, including through the iTunes U directory. Fans wishing to have the weekly audio podcast automatically downloaded to their iTunes account just need to search for "Liberty Flames podcast" on the iTunes U directory and hit the subscribe button.

The Liberty Flames podcast will also be made available on and can be listened to directly from the official web site of the Liberty University Athletics Department.
