Larry Claiborne and the Flames will face Presbyterian in Clinton, S.C., at the end of the month of October.

During this week between training camp and the Flames preparation week for St. Francis, is going to preview the Flames Big South Conference opponents. Each preview will include audio interviews with head coach Danny Rocco and the opposing head coach.

The week-long series is going to begin with a look at Presbyterian College, who is predicted to finish in seventh place in this year's Big South Conference standings.

The Blue Hose gained valuable experience under new head coach Harold Nichols in 2009; however, Presbyterian is still looking for its first victory under the second-year skipper after going 0-11, last year.

A more experienced Presbyterian team returns for the 2010 campaign, which will be the program's last during its transitional phase to NCAA Division I status. The Blue Hose's games will count in the Big South standings for the second year in a row; however, Presbyterian will not be eligible for the conference crown until the 2011 season.

Presbyterian will certainly get a good test to open the year, as the Blue Hose open the season with a pair of contests against back-to-back ACC foes (Wake Forest and Clemson). Following a road game at The Citadel and a home contest against North Greenville, the Blue Hose will open Big South play on the road at VMI.

The Blue Hose will be the Flames' third Big South opponent in 2010 and their second straight on the road. However, Liberty will have an extra week to prepare for Presbyterian, as the Flames face VMI on Oct. 16 and the Blue Hose on Oct. 30, with a week off in between.

In their last matchup, No. 23/24 Liberty posted its second-straight 50-point outburst in a home Big South contest, rolling to a 55-19 win over visiting Presbyterian in front of 14,197 fans inside Williams Stadium on Oct. 31, 2009. The win pushed Liberty's Big South winning streak to 14-straight games, which was the third-longest active conference winning streak in FCS football.

The 2008 season was the last time the Blue Hose were able to post a victory and that last win came against Liberty on Nov. 1, 2008. In a back and forth battle, it was a 28-yard field late in the fourth quarter that lifted Presbyterian to an upset victory over No. 17 Liberty, 31-28, at Bailey Memorial Stadium. The loss snapped the longest Big South road winning streak in league history at five.
