Liberty student-athletes Jeremy Anderson, Jordan Jenkins, Rebekah Ricksecker, Chris Rocco, Louis Steyn and Rachel Wisehart have all been named to the 2009-10 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State Team.

Every Commonwealth university, including NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, and independents, had the opportunity to submit athletes to be honored. To be eligible, student-athletes were required to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better. The student must have achieved sophomore status, and he or she could not have been in the first season of competition at their current school. All 119 VaSID Academic All-State honorees are either starters or key reserves for their respective teams.

Jeremy Anderson, a kinesiology major, has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during his first three years at Liberty. This past season, the redshirt sophomore guard scored 6.1 ppg and canned a team-high 53 three-pointers for the hardwood Flames. Anderson was also included on the Big South All-Academic Team for the first time.

Women's tennis standout Jordan Jenkins is a government major with a cumulative 3.78 grade-point average. She was voted the 2010 Big South Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year to go along with her all-conference honors for both singles and doubles competition. The junior, who was ranked as high as No. 90 nationally during the season, has already eclipsed Liberty's school record with 63 career singles triumphs.

Rebekah Ricksecker completed her bachelor's degree in elementary education with a 3.95 GPA and currently owns a 3.33 graduate GPA in English. The redshirt senior middle-distance runner swept the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors for women's indoor and outdoor track & field in 2010. She was also an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honoree for the third year in a row, after winning three individual Big South titles (indoor mile and 3K, outdoor 1,500) this past season.

Chris Rocco, a senior kinesiology major with a 3.93 GPA, won the 2010 Rock Royer/Mac Rivera Award, Liberty's highest athletics honor. The defensive back was a first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American. On the field, he tallied 57 tackles, garnering second-team All-Big South accolades during his final season for the Flames.

Louis Steyn, Liberty's first-ever Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year in men's tennis, is a senior accounting major with a 3.78 grade-point average. He teamed with Juan Reyes for a 12-1 doubles record, winning the Big South No. 3 doubles flight championship.

Rachel Wisehart completed two degrees during her five years at Liberty, finishing a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a 3.93 GPA and wrapping up a master's degree in marriage and family counseling with a 4.0 GPA. She also served as the president of Liberty's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the second straight year. Wisehart, a defender on the Big South regular-season champion Liberty women's soccer squad, was an honorable mention Scholar All-East Region selection.
