Entering her third season with the Lady Flames, head coach Jessica Hain, who was named Big South Coach of the Year in 2009, opened practice with a roster of 33 players, 24 of which returned from last season's team.

Among those returning for the Lady Flames include All-Big South and VaSID All-State honorees Maria Owen (F, Sr., Mount Jackson, Va.) and Silvia Betancourt (M, Jr., San Jose, Costa Rica), midfielders Aimee Luurtsema (Jr., Grandville, Mich.) and Madison Short (So., Dallas, Texas), defender Elia Lake(Sr., Dumfries, Va.) and goalkeepers Ashley Nyholt (Sr., Brampton, Ontario) and Karen Blocker (Jr., Bowie, Md.).

Hain's team will also have nine new additions this season, including sophomore defender Bridgette Kelly (Levittown, Pa.) and eight freshmen – Chelsey Johnson (F, Concord, Calif.), Casey Norris (F, Pittsboro, N.C.), Jenna Fraser (D, Grand Blanc, Mich.), Alexa Hormann (GK, West Liberty, Ohio), Megan Warner (M, Uniontown, Ohio), Kristin Horton (GK, Charlotte, N.C.), Chloe Woody (D, Asheville, N.C.) and Dawn Elmers (D, Fenwick, Ontario).

Liberty will begin its season Aug. 20 with a Commonwealth clash against ACC power Virginia at Klöckner Stadium at 7 p.m. The match will be the first of four-straight games on the road to open the 2010 campaign. The Lady Flames are slated to make their 2010 debut inside Osborne Stadium on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. against James Madison.
