Liberty third baseman Tyler Bream has been named a starter for the Western Division All-Stars in the Cape Cod League.
Liberty third baseman Tyler Bream has been named to the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) Western Division team for Wednesday night's CCBL All-Star game at Fenway Park in Boston, Mass.
One of five Wareham Gatemen selected to the squad, Bream will start at third base for the Western Division. The rising Liberty junior has been one of Wareham's top offensive players this summer, leading the Cape Cod League with 19 RBIs. In 31 games, the third baseman has hit .259 with eight doubles and two home runs during his first summer in the league.
After getting off to a slow start to begin the year, Bream's Gatemen have won seven out of their last 10 and are in third place with a 15-18-1 in the Western Division, entering play this evening.
This past spring at Liberty, Bream was named second team all-conference and was selected to the Big South All-Tournament team, helping Liberty post a 42-19 record. The Flames' 42 wins were the most in program history. Bream collected 96 hits, the most in a season by a Liberty player, while hitting .357 with 57 RBIs and 56 runs scored. One of only three Flames to start all 61 contests in the 2010 season, he had 22 doubles, one triple and tied for the team lead with nine home runs.
