Kevin Reddington placed seventh in the men's long jump, Thursday at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Kevin Reddington wrapped up his freshman season with a seventh-place finish in the men's long jump, Thursday afternoon at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Meanwhile, classmate Meghan Burggraf clocked the 17th-fastest time in the women's 800-meter run preliminaries, contested at Drake Stadium, the site of the 2011 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Reddington, the indoor track & field Big South Men's Freshman of the Year, stretched the measuring tape to 22-11 on his third of six long jump attempts. That stood up for seventh place in the competition, which was limited to participants 19 years old or younger. Burggraf, who was voted Big South Women's Freshman of the Year after winning the 800-meter title at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships, went out aggressively in her heat on Thursday. Burggraf clocked a 61.71-second split for the opening lap, before ending up sixth in her section and 17th overall, with a final time of 2:16.54. Liberty's third and final competitor in the meet, Clarence Powell, will compete in the men's triple jump Friday at 7 p.m. Eastern. Portions of his event may be shown on ESPN, which will broadcast the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships from 8-10 p.m. Eastern tomorrow.
