2010 Division I PING All-Region Teams Following one of the best individual seasons in program history, Liberty's Robert Karlsson has been named to the Division I PING All-Region team, as announced by the Golf Coach Association of America (GCAA). Karlsson (So., Kalmar, Sweden) was one of 25 student-athletes selected to the Division I PING All-Region East team. In total, the GCAA named 153 student-athletes to six region teams around the country. Karlsson was the lone Big South men's golfer on the regional PING listing. Karlsson led the Flames with a 72.4 stroke average this past season, which included seven Top 5 finishes during 12 events. The stellar season was punctuated by the sophomore capturing Big South Golf of the Year honors and individual medalist honors at the 2010 Big South Men's Golf Championship. Karlsson's individual victory at the 2010 Big South Men's Golf Championship earned him a ticket to the NCAA Regionals. During three days of competition at the NCAA New Haven Regional, played at The Course at Yale, the sophomore posted a one-over par 211 (66-74-71) for a share of 24th place at the par-70 trek. The one-over par score was the second best in program history by a Liberty golfer at an NCAA Regional event. It ranked only behind Max McKay's showing at the same NCAA New Haven Regional, last month, as the freshman posted a one-under par 209 and finished tied for 16th place.
