Tiffani Smith has been named to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region second team, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced today.
Smith, a rising senior, was also named the Big South Pitcher of the Year, and received all-conference first team honors. She led all Big South pitchers with 211 strikeouts, and tied for second with five shutouts on the year. With 20 wins, Smith is tied for second in Liberty history for most wins in a season.
The right-hander also holds the record for most strikeouts in a game in Liberty history, as she fanned 16 batters against Presbyterian on April 24, 2009.
In addition, Smith has posted impressive career numbers, and now ranks second all-time at Liberty with 478 strikeouts, and is tied for third with seven career saves.
Liberty is part of the Mid-Atlantic Region in the NFCA. The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams.
The NFCA Division I All-American teams will be announced on June 2.
