J'nae Jefferson and Cassie Hendrix were named to the Big South Softball Championship All-Tournament Team. The No. 2 seed Lady Flames' season ended Saturday morning with a 4-0 loss to No. 3 seed Winthrop in the consolation finals. Liberty wrapped up the season with a 39-18 overall record, which marks the third-most wins in program history. In her final tournament appearance, Jefferson batted .385 as the Lady Flames went 2-2 in the Big South Championship. The senior hit safely in three out of the four games, and hit a double and drove in a run against No. 7 seed Presbyterian on May 13. Jefferson was also named to the all-conference first team and received all-academic team honors earlier in the week. Hendrix batted .500 in tournament games, driving in two runs and recorded her fourth homer of the year against Winthrop on May 13. Hendrix was named to the all-conference second team, as she had the fifth-best overall batting average in the Big South in regular-season play (.375). No. 1 seed Radford won the tournament, defeating Winthrop, 5-2, in the finals. The Highlanders will face Florida State in the Athens Regional of the 2010 NCAA Tournament on May 21 at 5 p.m.
