Liberty men's basketball head coach Dale Layer recently signed John Brown to a National Letter of Intent.

Liberty head men's basketball coach Dale Layer announced that John Brown has signed a national letter of intent to attend Liberty University for the 2010-11 academic year.

"John is a terrific leader and competitor, who can play two or three different positions," Layer stated. "He scores, rebounds and defends at a high level. I love his toughness and maturity. He is a winner in every sense of the word. He will impact us across many dimensions."

Brown, a 6-5 guard from Savannah, Ga., began his college career at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. before taking the floor at Roane State Community College (Harriman, Tenn.) during the 2009-10 campaign. Brown averaged 16.7 points and 11.0 rebounds per game this past season for the Raiders.

"I really like the atmosphere at Liberty," Brown commented. "I just really felt comfortable during my visit there."

"I know I made the right decision to attend Liberty University," Brown added. "I'd like to thank Coach Layer and Coach [Jason] Eaker for putting their trust in my abilities."
