LU Collecting Shoes for Samaritan's Feet

Samaritan's Feet Texting Program

When Liberty men's basketball point guard Jesse Sanders stood in front of a crowded Vines Center during morning convocation on Feb. 19 and urged the audience to support Samaritan's Feet, an organization that provides shoes to children without them, he could not fathom the response he would receive.

Sitting among the students attending Liberty's College-For-A-Weekend was 10-year old McKayla Robinette of Wilson, N.C. Armed with a God-given desire to share the Gospel through mission projects, McKayla heard Sanders' pitch and decided to partner with Liberty Athletics in its effort to raise money and collect shoes for Samaritan's Feet. Upon returning home, she began asking for donations from members of her community and recently presented the department with more than 200 pairs of shoes.

The following video tells the ambitious 10-year-old's story and documents her meeting with Sanders and the rest of the Flames basketball team.

Flames fans can do their part to support the efforts of Samaritan's Feet by texting the word FLAMES to 85944 in order to give a $5 donation. For more information about Liberty Athletics' partnership with Samaritan's Feet and the texting program, visit the above links.
