Playing in its first of three-straight conference contests to round out the regular season, the Liberty women's lacrosse team (1-9, 1-3 NLC) paid a visit to the Motor City, taking on Detroit (6-8, 3-2 NLC), Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Lady Flames, their clash with the Titans did not swing in their favor, falling to the host team, 19-5.

With the defeat, Liberty remains in the sixth spot in the National Lacrosse Conference (NLC) standings, but falls to 1-3 in conference play, while the Titans improve to 3-2 in the NLC.

Anna Starling (So., Dallas, Texas), paced the Lady Flames with two goals, followed by a triad of Liberty players finishing with one apiece – Kristin Crowley (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.), Chloe McIntosh (So., Dallas Texas) and Amanda Hornick (So., Millersville, Md.).

Anna Eidem led the way in scoring for Detroit with four goals. Three other Titans finished the game with a hat trick - Emily Boissonneault, Olivia Mendoza and Zaynib Hamze.

The Titans took full advantage of the opening 18 minutes of the first half, scoring 11 unanswered goals. Boissonneault capped off the run with her second goal of the contest at 12:24.

Minutes later, Liberty's leading scorer on the season, Crowley put the Lady Flames on the board with her 20th career-goal, netting an eight-meter marker to make it 11-1. Crowley's successfully placed shot marked her eighth free position goal this season.

The hosting Titans responded in the final 6:24 with three-straight goals, including another Boissonneault tally with eight seconds remaining in the period, which gave Detroit a 14-1 advantage at halftime.

Liberty struck first in the second stanza, as McIntosh picked up her seventh goal of the season to make it 14-2 at 28:57.

After a 3-0 spurt by Detroit, which gave the Titans a 17-2 lead, Hornick found the net with just 11 Lady Flames on field due to a yellow card. Following the attacker's man-down goal, Starling placed a shot past the goalie with 12:51 remaining. Less than two minutes later, Starling capped off Liberty's 3-0 run with a McIntosh assist to trim the deficit to 17-5.

The Titans tacked on two more goals in the closing minutes for a final score of 19-5.

Liberty heads to the Palmetto State next Saturday to take on Presbyterian in the in the second of three-straight conference matchups to close out the regular season. The opening draw with the Blue Hose is set for 1 p.m.
