Daryl Robertson and the Flames will begin to prepare for the 2010 season with their first of 15 spring practice sessions on Thursday.

Work around Williams Stadium in preparation for the 2010 football season opener has been underway since last November, but training on the field will start to take place, tomorrow afternoon, when Liberty opens its spring practice schedule.

Weather permitting, the Flames will hold the first of 15 scheduled practices over the next month, culminating in the program's annual spring game on April 17. Kick off for the intra-squad scrimmage is scheduled for 1 p.m., at Williams Stadium.

The Flames are coming off their third-straight Big South championship campaign, where a younger football team posted an 8-3 record and led all FCS programs in the country in scoring offense and turnover margin.

For the second-straight year, the Flames completed a season as one of the nation's top programs, garnering a No. 21 ranking in the final FCS Coaches listing and a No. 22 ranking in the Sports Network poll.

Since taking over the program prior to the 2006 season, three-time Big South Coach of the Year and two-time national Coach of the Year finalist Danny Rocco has led the program to an a unprecedented run. The Flames have posted a 32-13 record, marking the best four-year span in the program's four-decade history.

Over the next four weeks, Liberty will be using the following spring practice schedule – Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5:15 p.m., Friday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. and Saturday morning at 10:20 a.m.
As they have done in the past, the Flames will utilize both Williams Stadium and the Williams Football Operation Center (FOC) practice field during each practice session.

Due to the current Williams Stadium expansion project, the portion of practice held inside of Williams Stadium will not be open to the public. However, all workout drills on the FOC practice field will be open to the public and are free of charge.

All practice sessions are subject to change due to inclement weather. Spring practice schedule adjustments will be made public on the LibertyFlames.com and football program Twitter pages – to subscribe to either, click here.
