The Liberty men's basketball team is gearing up for its meeting with Winthrop in Tuesday night's 2010 Advance Auto Parts Big South quarterfinal matchup. The Eagles swept the regular season series, taking both contests 65-62 (Jan. 9) and 67- 43 (Feb. 4), respectively. Coming in as a No. 6 seed, the Flames are looking for their first win at Winthrop since 2004 and their first tournament victory outside the Vines Center since 2001. The last time Liberty earned the "W" in a Big South Championship contest played away from its home court was on March 1, 2001, when the No. 6 seeded Flames defeated No. 3 UNC Asheville inside the Roanoke Center in the quarterfinals, 60-48. Liberty is also looking for its first-ever conference tournament win at a Big South opponent's venue. Throughout their 18-year stint in the Big South Championship, Liberty's wins have come either at home or on a neutral court.
