Liberty guard/forward Jelena Antic has been named the Big South Conference Crons Brand Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Antic (Skopje, Macedonia) helped the Lady Flames go 3-0 last week, defeating Longwood, Presbyterian College and UNC Asheville by an average of 37 points per game. Antic shot an impressive 78.3 percent (18-of-23) from the field for the week, averaging 13.3 ppg and 5.7 rpg.

Just hours after being tabbed the Jan. 12 Big South Freshman of the Week, Antic scored a career-high and game-high 19 points in a 78-55 home win over Longwood. She completed her second double-double of the year with 10 rebounds.

Antic also led Liberty's balanced scoring attack in a 73-27 victory against Presbyterian College on Saturday. Her 14 points came on perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the field, as Antic extended her streak to 10 consecutive made field goals.

Antic is the first Lady Flame to win back-to-back Big South Freshman of the Week honors since Kristal Tharp on Feb. 12 and 19, 2002. Megan Frazee was also honored by the conference during the first two weeks of her collegiate career, earning the Big South Freshman of the Week award on Nov. 28, 2005 and the Big South Player of the Week distinction Dec. 5.

The 12-4 Lady Flames, currently riding a five-game winning streak, will begin a stretch of four consecutive road contests Saturday at 5 p.m., with a Big South Conference game at Charleston Southern.
