Lady Flames' Soccer Announces Five Signees
Liberty women's soccer head coach James Price announced the signing of five new student-athletes on Wednesday.

"We are delighted to have signed these five players," stated Price.  "They will compliment our returning players and help form, in my opinion, the finest squad in Liberty women's soccer history. I am looking forward to working with these girls in preparation for our first game this fall."

Heather Bowling (D, Waxhaw, N.C.) brings a strong resume to Liberty from Parkwood High School. Bowling was named to the all-conference and all-county in both 2004 and 2005, while also meriting selection to the all-region squad in 2005 during her years at Parkwood. In addition, the defender was named to the 2005 National Soccer Coaches of America Association and Adidas Scholar All-Region team.  This past summer, Bowling played at the elite club level with the Charlotte Eagles of the W-League of the United League.  She becomes the second player from Parkwood on the Lady Flames' roster as she joins junior defender Suzanne Edwards.

"Heather is a strong and quick defender who has valuable experience at the club level," said Price.  "She provides a calming influence at the back and will compliment our returning defenders well."

Christina McDonald (MF, Roswell, Ga.) will enter Liberty this fall from Fellowship Christian High School.  McDonald was a member of the Peachtree Lazers,  a premier level club team, which ranked seventh nationally last season as the Georgia State Champions and Region III Semi-Finalists. As a high school player, she was named to the  2005 Georgia State team and was selected all-region in 2003 and 2004.

"Christina is a tough tackling, hard working player, who is able to disrupt the opposition's attack and also provide consistency with her passing and distribution," stated Price.
Michelle Rich (GK, Friendswood,Texas) comes to Liberty from Friendswood High School.  A four-time all-district team member, Rich led Friendswood to the state semi-finals in 2006 and was named the team's MVP.
"Michelle is a very reliable goalkeeper who will provide some much needed experience to the team.  She is a solid shot stopper and manages the game very well," said Price.
Rachel Wisehart (D, Concord, N.C.) will add to the Lady Flames' defensive corps this fall.  Wisehart was a three-time team MVP at J.M. Robinson High School and earned all-conference honors in 2003, 2004 and 2005.   In addition, the defender played for the FC Carolina Alliance Club team.
"Rachel is a terrific athlete who is a ferocious competitor.  She gained some valuable experience this spring and will provide depth in the back," stated Price.
Maggie Woody (MF, Asheville, N.C.) rounds out the signees.  Woody, who was home schooled, played with Bowling on the 2006 Charlotte Eagles W-League team.  She also was a member of the state team from 1999-2005 and in 2004 helped lead her CESA Club team to the 2004 South Carolina State Championship.
"Maggie is able to play at multiple positions and will provide our team with a steady influence and sound technical skill wherever she plays," said Price.  "She has a tremendous shot and is very dangerous from set pieces.
