Nicki Scripko leads the Big South with 351 kills this season.

Today, LibertyFlames.com continues its weekly question-and-answer series with the Lady Flames volleyball team, designed to give fans a unique look at the two-time defending Big South champions. Junior outside hitter Nicki Scripko is this week's featured Lady Flame.

Nicki Scripko has flourished in her first full season at the outside hitter position. She leads the Big South with 351 kills and has recorded a team-high nine double-doubles. Scripko was an all-tournament selection at the Louisville Cardinal Classic and has helped the Lady Flames win nine of their first 11 conference matches.

Scripko reached a career milestone on Oct. 6, notching her 1,000th career kill during Liberty's 3-1 victory over Radford at the Vines Center. She has earned numerous conference honors during her career, highlighted by a pair of Big South All-Tournament team selections and the 2007 Big South Freshman of the Year award.

What is the most exciting thing you did this summer?
I got engaged! That is pretty exciting to me.

If you could add a match to this year's schedule, which team would you want to play?
North Carolina

What is your favorite volleyball memory?
Playing on the same team as my older sister

How many text messages do you send per month?
I have no idea, but I do send a lot of texts.

Who is your best friend currently playing collegiate volleyball for another team, and who do they play for?
All of my best friends who play volleyball in college are on Liberty's team!

What is your favorite vacation spot?
It all depends on if I want to be at the beach or the mountains. If it was the beach, then I would have to say I love going to the islands in the Caribbean, but if I wanted to be at the mountains, I love Gatlinburg.

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
It's hard to pick a favorite Bible verse, but I will share my favorite one during volleyball season, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

This passage really encourages me during the volleyball season, because it is hard and we get tired and sore, but we can't focus on these things. We need to focus on eternal things. No matter how hard our times are here, this is only for a moment. God promises some amazing things in these verses.

What is your favorite food?
If anyone knows me, they know I just love food... pretty much all food.

My dream beach volleyball partner would be …
None other than Karyl Bacon

Do you have any pre-match habits/rituals, and what are they?
I have to make sure I listen to good music before a match.

The most impressive thing about Coach Pinder is …
The way he can hit balls at us throughout practice and they just get harder and harder, or the way he can switch on his intense mode super quick. Also, he has so much Bible knowledge and always knows the right time to use it.

What is the best advice you have ever received, and who gave it to you?
"Follow after the Lord with everything you've got." - Tyler McClure (my fiancé)
"If you step out of the boat, He won't let you sink." - I read this in a devotional book.
