Approximately 100 people attended Saturday night's banquet, which capped off a successful Liberty women's basketball reunion.

In conjunction with the University's Homecoming Weekend festivities, the Liberty women's basketball program held its first-ever reunion this past weekend.

The reunion attracted past players, coaches and staff members representing all four decades of Lady Flames basketball. Weekend events included a tailgate party before the Flames' 58-13 victory over Coastal Carolina on Saturday, as well as a banquet at Pate Chapel after the game. Approximately 100 people were in attendance at the banquet.

Reunion attendees included the first two head coaches in program history, Brenda Bonheim and Dr. Linda Farver. Two of Farver's players from the early 1980s, Donna (Lidstone) Beckman and Missy (Roberts) Eller, also took part in the reunion. Beckman made the trek all the way from Ontario, Canada, and Eller visited the campus where four of her children have been students.

Elena (Kisseleva) Bengds also returned to campus for the second time in a month, after the 2000 graduate was recently inducted into Liberty's Athletics Hall of Fame. Other Lady Flames in attendance included two standouts from the 2004-05 squad, which reached the "Sweet 16," Katie (Feenstra) Mattera and Dr. Kristal (Tharp) Bechtold. Mattera leaves for China this weekend, for another season of professional basketball, while Bechtold graduated from The Ohio State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in June.
