The Liberty baseball team began fall practice today at Worthington Stadium. The afternoon practice featured an intrasquad scrimmage. Currently, Liberty has 40 players participating in fall drills, including 21 Flames who saw action during Liberty's 33-21 campaign in 2009. The squad is joined by two new additions to head coach Jim Toman's coaching staff, as assistant coaches Jason Murray and Adam Ward begin their first fall with the program.
Fall practice run through Oct. 25 during the fall the team will prepare for the upcoming spring and set its 35-man roster for the 2010 season. The Flames will train six days a week during the fall with Mondays off. Practice will culminate with two, three-game intra-squad "Super Regionals" at Worthington Stadium. Super Regional No. 1 is scheduled for Oct. 18-20. Super Regional No. 2 is slated to played Oct. 22-24. In addition, Liberty will hold a Scout Night on Sept. 29 at 5 p.m., where players will be able to work out and display their skills for major league baseball scouts.
